PGA Championship 2020: Odds, Leaderboard, How To Watch, Tiger

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The 2020 PGA Championship gets underway Thursday at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. The 4-day tournament, which runs through Sunday, will feature 156 golfers vying for the Wanamaker Trophy.

All eyes will be on the 11:33 a.m. Eastern Time tee time, with the Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and co-favorite Justin Thomas pairing set to begin play then. But before that, two-time defending PGA champion and the other co-favorite, Brooks Koepka will begin the quest to defend his titles at 11:11 a.m. eastern.

While Koepka will look to be the first "three-peat" winner of the PGA Championship since Ben Hogan won five in a row from 1923 to 1927, a number of other past champions will look to knock him off and regain their crown. Past champions in the 2020 field include Woods (1999, 2000, 2006, 2006), McIlroy (2012, 2014) and Phil Mickelson (2005).

The PGA Championship had traditionally been held in August, but was moved to May in 2019. It's back in August this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Scheduling adjustments forced by the pandemic also means the PGA Championship will be the first major golf tournament held in 2020.

Due to the pandemic, spectators won't be in attendance at the championship — a first in the history of U.S. major golf championships. It will also be the first major championship held at TPC Harding Park.

But fans can still track the status of the top golfers, including Koepka, Thomas and Woods, via PGATour.com.

Here's what else you should know ahead of the 2020 PGA Championship:

Favorite

Koepka and Thomas, the 2017 PGA champion, are listed as the co-favorites, both at +1100 as of Wednesday afternoon on FanDuel. Vegas Insider listed Koepka as the sole favorite at 10-1, followed by Thomas at 11-1 and both McIlroy and Jon Rahm at 14-1.

Odds

While Koepka and Thomas are the co-favorites, there's always a chance for a dark horse to come into play and steal the tournament. Webb Simpson, whose ranked No. 2 on the PGA Championship power rankings, has 25-1 odds on Vegas Insider and could be that sleeper.

Golf Digest has shared their eight favorite value bets. Fantasy advice is available via PGATour.com.

Leaderboard

The PGA Championship will update its leaderboard once the first three golfers tee off at 10 a.m. eastern time on Thursday.

How To Watch

ESPN+ will televise the tournament from its start until 4 p.m. on Saturday. CBS will then take over until 10 p.m. on Saturday. ESPN+ is back on from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, with ESPN taking over from noon to 3 p.m. and CBS handling the end from 3-9 p.m.
