PGA Championship returns to Louisville in 2024, and registration is open. How to get tickets

The "strongest field in men's golf" is gearing up for its seventh championship in Louisville, and you have a chance to be in the crowd.

Free registration to get tickets for the 2024 PGA Championship, set to take place next year from May 13 to May 19, opened Monday. The tournament will be held at Louisville's Valhalla Golf Club for the first time since 2014, when Rory McIlroy won his second PGA Championship title and fourth major title, according to a release from the organization.

“It’s again time to celebrate Major Championship golf at one of golf’s storied venues, Valhalla Golf Club,” said Ryan Ogle, championship director for the 106th PGA Championship. "Anticipation for the return of professional golf to Louisville is high and we expect tickets to move quickly. We encourage anyone wanting to witness the excitement in person to register for tickets before time runs out."

How do I get tickets for the 2024 PGA Championship?

PGA 2024 Championship tickets will only be sold through registration due to "heightened interest," the release said. The process provides "individuals with the best opportunity to be there in person." Almost 80% of slots are sold to registrants before they're made available to the rest of the public, but it doesn't guarantee people a spot to watch the games.

As tickets go on sale, people "will receive direct communication on how to access and purchase available tickets from Opening Monday to Championship Sunday," the release said.

Applicants will be asked to provide their name, email and mailing address and can only register once per unique email. After they're registered, people will be put in line for the chance to get tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additionally, people may register online to volunteer at the championship beginning on April 17.

The PGA Championship began in 1916 and is the only "all-professional major in men's golf," the release said. It has featured the most top 100 players in the Official World Golf Rankings of all golf Major Championships since 1994.

Valhalla Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course, has been ranked among Golf Digest's 'America's 100 Greatest Courses,'" the release said. It stands on more than 500 acres that stretch across rolling hills in eastern Jefferson County. The club has also hosted several other PGA events, like the 2008 Ryder Cup — where the U.S. won — and five organization championships.
