The official PGA Tour season is teeing off this Thursday, Jan. 4 at The Sentry Plantation at Kapalua, Hawaii, marking the official countdown to the 2024 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing. This is the 56th playing of tournament on Hilton Head Island.

The first playing of the tournament was over Thanksgiving Day weekend in 1969 when Arnold Palmer won by three strokes and took home a winner’s check for $20,000.

Last year’s tournament winner was Matt Fitzpatrick, a 29-year-old from Sheffield, England who became a pro golfer in 2014 with his debut at The Irish Open, joined the PGA tour in 2020, and has accumulated two wins while on his way to ten professional worldwide wins. His share of the purse in 2023 was $3.6 million. The winning purse for this year’s event is set for $20 million. The winner is also awarded a coveted ‘Heritage Plaid’ jacket.
