In addition to being the newest men’s creative director for Louis Vuitton, it sounds as if Pharrell Williams is also now jamming for Jesus.

The Virginia Beach hip-hop star collaborated with the Hampton Roads gospel choir Voices of Fire to release a new song, “JOY (Unspeakable),” that begs a question: Can a Neptune-esque, club-banging beat praise the Lord?

A quick listen is a resounding, “Yes.”

“JOY (Unspeakable)” was released 12:01 a.m. Friday.

The beat, which utilizes a rhythmic repetition of the word “joy” sung by the choir, has the characteristic Williams’ bounce, reminiscent of his upbeat tempos that’ve put smiles on fans’ faces and groove in their hips for years.

Voices of Fire was created by Williams’ uncle, bishop Ezekiel Williams, who, with the help of his famous nephew, scouted out and filmed the bringing together of some of Hampton Roads’ most talented gospel singers for the 2020 Netflix documentary “Voices of Fire.”

Bishop Williams was quoted in a Friday press release: “Working with Pharrell is always an amazing experience that not only inspires you, but drives you to dig deep within yourself for the best you have to offer.”

“JOY (Unspeakable)” is available on streaming services including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music and Pandora.
