Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert Showed Off a Combined $1 Million Worth of Watches
Welcome to Watches of the Week, where we'll track the rarest, wildest, and most covetable watches spotted on celebrities.
Over the past several years, Richard Mille has made a name for itself as the watch celebrities want to blow their massive paychecks on. The evidence of that over the past couple weeks is overwhelming: Jay Z wore one valued at $2.5 million, Drake’s $750,000 RM spits out NSFW phrases, and Frank Ocean posted one the brand’s candy-inspired timepieces to his Instagram. This week, two of the most fashionable rappers in the world put their hands together like mighty, mighty Power Rangers to show off their RM pieces. Somehow, Sylvester Stallone is also involved.
Pharrell’s Richard Mille 25-01 and Lil Uzi Vert’s RM 030
The most ambitious crossover event in history is upon us. I’m not talking about Avengers: Endgame—I’m talking about whatever it is that Lil Uzi Vert and Pharrell are cooking up. Last week, they joined forces to show off two Richard Mille watches worth over $1 million combined. Uzi’s watch, which we covered a couple of weeks ago, is a custom bejeweled 030. Pharrell’s is the new eye candy here: a RM 25-01 with a rugged camo aesthetic—the result of a collaboration with none other than Sylvester Stallone.
Dwyane Wade’s Rolex Day-Date II
Retirement looks pretty darn good on D-Wade—and so does this 18-carat gold Rolex Day-Date, the “ultimate watch of prestige.”
Tiger Woods’s Rolex Deepsea D-Blue
Tiger Woods won the Masters after an 11-year drought and then immediately strapped on a Rolex. Read about why that makes all the sense in the world here.
Rafael Nadal’s Richard Mille 27-03
Part of Richard Mille’s marketing includes showing off how outrageously light the brand’s pieces are. They’re so feathery, in fact, that they can be worn during professional tennis matches. Here, Nadal wears one of the handful of watches he made in collaboration with Richard Mille. This one, the RM 27-03, runs for $725,000.
James Harden’s Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon
After dropping 29 points on the Utah Jazz, Harden arrived to the post-game podium wearing a discontinued special-edition Royal Oak. Lucky for you, the trailblazing watch is the subject of this week’s Watch Glossary.
