Pharrell Williams curates racially-charged special edition of Time magazine, releases new collaboration with Jay-Z about Black ambition

No one does it like Pharrell Williams.

The super-producer’s latest contribution to the culture is a new song with Jay-Z, coupled with the curation of Time magazine’s special cover project, “The New American Revolution: Visions of a Black Future that Fulfills a Nation’s Promise.”

For the issue, which arrives on newsstands Friday, Williams assembled interviews with a number of big names, including activist and educator Angela Davis, hip hop artist Tyler the Creator, “black-ish” actress Yara Shahidi and tennis star Naomi Osaka, who weigh in racial inequalities in the country with their own experiences.

The Virginia Beach native is singer, producer and entrepreneur who has won 13 Grammy Awards as both a producer and vocalist. Also serving as a coach on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning singing competition “The Voice,” the “Happy” rapper also co-produced the films “Roxanne, Roxanne,” and the Academy Award nominated “Hidden Figures.”
