New Phila Post 139 eliminated from the American Legion Baseball State Baseball Tournament

New Philadelphia Post 139 Black Sox watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 4-0 loss to Napoleon Post 300 in the American Legion Baseball State Tournament at Lancaster on Tuesday.

The loss eliminates New Philadelphia from the postseason. Napoleon Post 300 scored on a error in the first inning and a single by Newman in the second inning.

The Black Sox couldn't catch up with Post 300 starter Jackson Bergman. Bergman, a 2022 Toledo commit, would not allow the Black Sox offense to get untracked as he allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking zero.

Brandt Wells started the game for the Black Sox.Wells kept the Black Sox within striking distance over 6 innings as he surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out three.

Mason Wagner and Haverfield each managed one hit to lead New Philadelphia.

Post 139 lost their opening game to defending state champion, Yeager-Benson Post 199 from Cincinnati. Post 199 broke open a close game in the fourth inning and cruised to 15-0 victory on Monday

Post 139 Black Sox concludes their 2022 campaign at 14-14.
