Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney laid out his proposal for the city's fiscal year 2022 budget during a city council meeting on Thursday.
- Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney laid out his proposal for the city's budget in fiscal year 2022. Much of the proposal was based around the $1.4 billion in federal relief from the Biden administration's American Rescue Plan. That federal money will prevent massive cuts.
Kenney's plan calls for wage tax reductions, after-school programs, money for policing reforms, and efforts to reduce violence, among many other things.
JIM KENNEY: This budget was created with one guiding vision-- that Philadelphians in every neighborhood can and must benefit from what I believe will be a strong recovery-- every neighborhood. That vision is what guides me every single day and what keeps me going.
