New Philadelphia police to train Aug. 20 and 21 for active shooter, other threats

NEW PHILADELPHIA ―The New Philadelphia City School District and the New Philadelphia Police Department are working together to enhance safety protocols in the district.

The police department will train in the school buildings from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.

Ray Avenue will be closed during this time, on both days, between Third Street NW and Fourth Street NW.

Police will also use the student parking lot on Ray Avenue during this time.

This training will enable the department to simulate their response to threats, including that of an active shooter.
