New Philadelphia tops Ridgewood 4-2 in non-league baseball clash

Elliot Warner had a single, double and two runs scored, and Noah Bollon added two singles and two RBIs as New Philadelphia doubled up host Ridgewood 4-2 in a high school baseball tournament tune-up for both teams at West Lafayette on Saturday.

The Quakers improved to 14-9 as they will take on Indian Creek in a Division II district semifinal at Minerva on Monday, while the Generals will battle Martins Ferry in a Div. III district semifinal at Harrison Central on Tuesday.

Carter Vandall got the pitching start for New Philadelphia and gave way to Maddox Brown, who picked up the win. Brandt Wells notched the save.

The Quakers led 3-0 after 3½ before the Generals scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to make things interesting, but New Philadelphia added an big insurance run in the top of the seven and held on for the win.

Chase Booth led Ridgewood with a double and a run scored.
