Philips Healthcare Cutting Most Of Remaining Jobs In Andover

ANDOVER, MA -- Phillips Healthcare plans to move 280 of the 300 remaining jobs at its location at 3000 Minuteman Road in Andover to other facilities by the end of 2020. The move announced late last week after January's decision by Phillips to move 1,900 jobs from Andover to other facilities as part of the consolidation of its ultrasound business.

Of the jobs leaving Andover, 120 will go to Reedsville, PA, while another 160 will go to the company's office in Cambridge, according to the Eagle-Tribune, which first reported this story. A spokesperson for the company could not tell the newspaper how many -- if any -- jobs would remain on the 140-acre Andover campus following the moves announced last week.

Earlier this summer, Eisai Inc. said it would lay off 59 employees and move its headquarters and the 70 remaining employees to Cambridge from Andover early next year. The pharmaceutical company, which is developing drugs to treat Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, will move to a new, 50,000-square-foot facility. In a press release, the company said the new site will allow it to form and maintain partnerships by tapping into Cambridge's dense consolidation of biotech companies.
