Phillips Mill Art Show Starts Virtually On Saturday (ICYMI)
NEW HOPE, PA — For the first time in its 91-year history, the Phillips Mill Art Show, which opens this weekend, will be entirely virtual.
The juried show, a tradition in Bucks County, will not be held in person in New Hope due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, the show will be judged online and open to the public, for exhibit and sale, on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Phillips Mill website.
Chairs Tim Lovrinic and Laura Womack said in a news release that they didn't want to let the virus rob artists of a chance to enter their work in the show.
"With great optimism, they appreciated the fact that having the show online presents a huge opportunity for art lovers worldwide to leisurely look at the work and discover what a wealth of talent resides within the New Hope area," the release said.
The annual show is open to artists who live within 25 miles of the historic mill in New Hope.
This year, hundreds of artists submitted work before the Aug. 22 deadline. Five jurors then raked the pieces and selected entrants in three categories:
The final selection was determined for three categories: framed, sculpture, and portfolio.
