3 shot dead in Philly in a day: No arrests, 1 victim identified
Philadelphia police have been investigating three fatal shootings that occurred in different parts of the city Tuesday.
Police on Wednesday identified one of the victims as Marvin Bunson, 32, of the 2000 block of Bellevue Street in Tioga. Bunson was shot several times Tuesday morning inside a burgundy Buick in the city’s Brewerytown neighborhood.
Police said Wednesday that a gunman ran up to the passenger side of the Buick, which was double parked on the 2800 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue, and began shooting at the vehicle. Bunson then drove off, crashing into another vehicle near Cecil B. Moore Avenue and 29th Street, police said.
Responding officers found Bunson in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and arms, at about 10:30 a.m.
He was rushed by police to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:49 a.m.
Later Tuesday, police responded to Einstein Medical Center for a report of another shooting victim and learned that another 32-year-old man, who was shot once in his chest, was pronounced dead at 1:41 p.m.
Police said the victim had walked up to a home on the 4700 block of North 12th Street in the city’s Logan section and reported that he was shot. That victim, whose name has not been released, was then taken to Einstein in a private vehicle.
Earlier Tuesday, a 24-year-old man was shot in the head on the 200 block of East Indiana Avenue in Kensington, police have said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:32 a.m. That man’s name has not been released.
These slayings followed two fatal shootings that occurred Monday, one in Frankford, the other in West Philadelphia.
No arrests have been reported in any of those shooting deaths.
