Phoenix area will see warm Sunday, but workweek will cool off

Sunday in the Valley was expected to see calm conditions and be the last of near-record high temperatures that lingered through the weekend

The National Weather Service in Phoenix said Saturday might have been the last 100-degree day of the year.

Sunny skies and calm breezes in Phoenix would highlight a Sunday that would be otherwise warm and dry, with a high of 95 degrees and a nightly low of 68 degrees, according to the weather service.

The Valley can expect heat relief as soon as Monday, with an increase in clouds, rain chances and windy conditions through the workweek.

Monday was expected to be sunny with a high of 88 degrees and a low of 65, with variable wind into the night.

Some clouds will roll in on Tuesday for mostly sunny skies and a high of 84 degrees, and a low of 66.

Increased cloud coverage starting Monday night will bring a 15% precipitation chance in Phoenix that grows in southeastern Arizona, peaking at a 48% chance in Tucson.

Phoenix will see its best chance for rain after midnight on Tuesday and Wednesday, with daytime conditions mostly clear.

Light winds from 5 to 10 mph wind will remain the norm throughout the start of the workweek
