Are Phoenix Suns really out of Kevin Durant sweepstakes? Fox Sports' Chris Broussard thinks so

Chris Broussard is tired of repeating himself.

He is almost certain Nets All-Star Kevin Durant will begin this season in Brooklyn instead of being traded somewhere else.

"Guys aren't listening to me. I'm not saying it's 100 percent, but where is he going," said Broussard Thursday on FOX Sports' First Things First. "We see teams dropping out every day. Phoenix is out. Miami is out. Toronto is out. What's the deal to be made?"

The Nets All-Star requested a trade at the start of free agency on June 30, putting the Suns and Heat atop his trade wish list.

Phoenix lost trading power with a third team when matching Indiana's offer sheet of four years, $133 million for center Deandre Ayton, who would've likely gone to a third team for the Suns to get Durant in return.

The Suns can't trade Ayton to the Pacers and he has veto power over any trade to the other 28 teams for a year.

Phoenix could try to trade Ayton on Jan. 15 of next year, but he'd have to approve it for the deal to go down.

Boston is the latest team reportedly making a push for Durant in offering All-Star Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a draft pick, but the Nets reportedly want NBA Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart in the deal.

"Now this Boston thing, if they want to give up Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and if I'm the Nets, I'm demanding Robert Williams III as well and three first-round picks," Broussard continued. "If they want to give up some type of deal like that, then maybe it happens."

Broussard believes Durant will get over Kyrie Irving not getting a long-term extension and the Nets parting ways with his shooting coach Adam Harrington and would show up at the team's training camp.

"KD loves basketball," Broussard said.

Boston swept Brooklyn in the first round of the 2022 playoffs on its way to the finals before losing to Golden State.

Having Durant pair up with All-Star Jayson Tatum would give the Celtics perhaps the best 1-2 punch in the NBA, but losing Brown, Smart and possibly a third rotation player like Williams III would take away three key contributors in their deep playoff run.

However, this scenario won't likely become reality in Broussard's opinion.

"The likeliest scenario is that he ends up back in Brooklyn because there just aren't the deals out there worth a superstar like Kevin Durant, whose got four years left on his deal and who is not going to sit out," he added. "So yeah, I think he starts the season in Brooklyn."
