AmeriCorps members from several local agencies served at this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration, held at the Kewanee Public Library. Serving at the event were Mary Findley from the YMCA, Alvin Cole from Henry County Senior Citizens, Branton Robinson and Esmeralda Paredes from Sunshine Community Services Center, and volunteer Anita Blanks, a former AmeriCorps member. The youth learned about Martin Luther King and his contributions to society, participated in various activities, received free books and enjoyed a piece of birthday cake.
