Photo shows Kohl's pride-themed halter tops and underwear for adults, not boys | Fact check

The claim: Kohl’s is selling pride-themed 'halter tops and panties' for boys

A May 24 Facebook post (direct link, archive link) includes an image of colorful apparel hanging on racks inside a store.

“Target Pride is not the only one WOKE!” reads the post. “KOHLS Department store is doing the same! Boys section in Kohl’s has ‘Tom Boy Pride’ collection! When my friend sent me the picture I did not believe that it was in The boys section! Halter tops and panties for your little boys! So I got online and sure enough Kohls is just like Target. Pushing agenda and indoctrination!”

It was shared more than 100 times in one week.

The clothes in the photo are intended for adults and are labeled as such on Kohl’s website. The store does have Pride Month products for boys, but they do not include halter tops, underwear or any of the merchandise shown in the post.

Pride merch for boys includes shirts that say 'Love Wins,' not underwear

The claim comes amid ongoing controversies with brands such as Target and Bud Light, which are facing conservative boycotts after expressing public support for the transgender community.

A review of the small sign displaying the prices of the clothes visible in the Facebook photo shows they are part of the “TomboyX” collection. A search for the line on Kohl’s website returns results that include the bralettes, jersey boxers and other clothes in the photo. But all of the items are labeled as being for adults, not children.

Fact check: No, Disney is not replacing American flags with pride flags; claim is satire

When a search of the store's Pride Month collection is filtered to show products intended for boys, the results show more than two dozen items. They include shirts that say “Follow Your Rainbow,” “Can’t Hide My Pride” and “Love Wins," but not the clothes in the Facebook post.

USA TODAY has previously debunked claims about Pride Month merchandise, including that Target is selling a “tuck-friendly” swimsuit for children and a shirt that says “Satan respects pronouns.”

USA TODAY reached out to Kohl's and the user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
