Photographer Drives Through Grand Teton National Park After Unseasonable Snowstorm

A nature photographer captured a picturesque scene of snow-covered trees and mountains while driving through Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, on September 8 after an unseasonable snowstorm.

Isaac Spotts recorded this footage and originally uploaded it to Instagram. He told Storyful he moved to Wyoming five years ago, and it’s not uncommon to see snow this time of year, but the amount of snow was unusual.

“After a long dry summer with a lot of forest fires in the area, it was great to wake up to 4-5 inches of fresh snow,” he said. “But I’ve never seen that amount of snow this early!”

According to local news reports, the snow forced road closures and power outages. As of 6.16 pm September 9, Rocky Mountain Power was reporting 167 outages in Wyoming affecting 2,326 customers. Credit: @isaacspicz via Storyful
