Photographer gets up close and personal with crocs for beautiful underwater portraits
This daring photographer is getting up close and personal with saltwater crocodiles. Shot from within a few feet of the creatures, Tanya Houppermans’s stunning shots show off the amazingly sharp gnashers on the Cuban native crocs. Varied in style, Tanya’s shots include head-on portraits of crocs, side views with half the image submerged in water — and even stunning sunsets illuminating the creatures. The photographer, 45, from Fredricksburg, Va., captured the animals over three days in January. Houppermans discovered the crocs in the Garden of Queens, an archipelago about 60 miles off the southeast coast of Cuba.
