Photography exhibit will soon open at the Charlevoix Circle of Arts
CHARLEVOIX — The Charlevoix Circle of Arts will host the Charlevoix Photography Club’s 13th Annual Juried Exhibition, Pure Northern Michigan, from June 3 to June 18.
The exhibit will open on Friday, June 3, with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. with light refreshments and awards presentation. Circle of Arts members, Charlevoix Photography Club members, and the public are invited to attend.
As part of the Pure Northern Michigan theme, the exhibit will feature photographic images taken in Northern Michigan relating to the following categories: wildlife, people, artistic expression, landscape, and macro. New this year will also be images in the category “non-Michigan travel.”
Cash prizes will be given for first, second and third place photos in each of the six categories. All photography featured in the exhibit will be for sale, and a commemorative poster featuring a photo by John Doskoch is also available for purchase.
All entries will be judged while hanging in the gallery by Steve Jessmore, a 30-year photojournalist, five-time Michigan Photographer of the Year, Robert F. Kennedy Photojournalism awardee and former Chief Photographer of the Flint Journal, the Saginaw News and the Myrtle Beach (SC) Sun News. Submissions for the juried show is open to all current members of the Charlevoix Photography Club and anyone else who wishes to participate (excluding professional photographers).
The public is encouraged to stop in and see the Pure Northern Michigan photography exhibition, made possible by the sponsorship of Charlevoix Auto, a local new and used vehicle dealership featuring Chevrolet, Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler and Moke America.
