The upcoming BMW M8 will be the range-topping version of BMW's newest two-door coupe and convertible.

It will use the same twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 as the M5 sedan, packing around 600 horsepower in standard guise and 617 in Competition trim.

The M8 will also get the M5's all-wheel-drive system, which has a rear-wheel-drive mode.

A new feature debuting on the M8 is an "integrated braking system," which has two settings that adjust pedal feel.

The M8 also will have a simplified driving-mode setup, with a new button that controls all configurable functions and settings.

The steering, engine, suspension, brakes, all-wheel-drive system, gearbox, stability control, and exhaust are all adjustable.

M8 drivers can save two setups, which are selectable by buttons on the steering wheel.

Also new is an M mode button, which adjusts the M8's driver-assist systems and the displays of the digital gauge cluster and the head-up display.

In the Road setting, everything is turned on, and the displays are in their standard setup.

In Sport, driver-assist systems are kept to a minimum, with only collision warning, automated emergency braking, evasion assist, and speed-limit alerts remaining on.

And in Track, which is only available on the M8 Competition, every assist system is turned off, the central display goes black, the audio system is turned off, and the design of the gauge cluster changes.
