PHOTOS: Canton firefighters lauded for ‘great stop’ of fire at 17th Street apartments
CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — Canton Fire Department sent back photos of a Friday afternoon fire at an apartment complex along 17th Street Northwest.
“Great stop by 3rd Battalion this afternoon!” reads a Facebook post by the department.

The department received several calls about a possible structure fire in the area, according to the post. The city and township fire departments were dispatched just before noon.
The first firefighters on scene found flames coming through the roof of a 12-unit apartment building, as occupants were escaping on their own, according to a news release.
Crews were able to stop the spread before a second building was heavily damaged and before it reached two other buildings.

There were no known injuries. Residents of at least two of the buildings, however, have been displaced due to the damage. The Red Cross is now assisting about a dozen residents, firefighters said.
The cause is still under investigation. Damages are still being assessed.
