PHOTOS: Delicate snowflakes captured up close and personal

Elena Solovieva/Caters News

These incredible macro shots taken by Elena Solovieva capture the intricacy of a individual snowflakes — and she claims it's easy.

The 46-year-old engineer from St. Petersburg, Russia, has spent seven years perfecting her craft, and she believes she is the first person to capture a set of snowflakes on camera. "About seven years ago, I got seriously interested in macro photography,” she says. Macro photography allows for very close shots of extremely small subjects, including tiny plants and animals.

"It is easy during the summer, there are plenty of insects and it is not a problem to find a model, but during the winter, the snowflake is probably the only choice,” Solovieva says. (Caters News)
