PHOTOS: Flooded roadways in Fayette County

LA GRANGE, Texas (KXAN) — Heavy rains fell and continue to fall in Fayette County this week, causing road closures and disrupting school schedules in the area Wednesday.

The First Warning Weather team said as of Wednesday morning, persistent rain and thunderstorms have dropped anywhere from 8 to 10.5 inches of rain in the last 48 hours. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until noon Wednesday for the county.

FORECAST: Flooding concerns continue east of I-35

KXAN photojournalist Todd Bailey captured photos and videos from the La Grange area showing FM 155 shut down due to flooding, as well as a swollen Colorado River.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said on social media a Flood Warning was issued for the Colorado River above La Grange through Wednesday evening.

The sheriff’s office also added all county offices are closed for the day and posted a list of road closures in the area.

“We are urging persons to use caution in this weather if you must be out,” the post warned.
