When the Russian authorities raided the home of Wagner mercenary company owner Yevgeny Prigozhin, they found exactly the kinds of things you might expect to see in the home of a Russian warlord.

Heaps of cash, weapons, tasteless furnishings and gruesome “art” were among the items seen in photos of Prigozhin’s home released by Russian state media. They were taken during a search of his mansion on the day of Wagner’s armed mutiny, June 24.

During the search, Russian security forces seized an arsenal of weapons and cash worth over RUB 10 billion ($110 million).

Prigozhin’s house has a special room for prayers, furnished with ancient icons and other religious paraphernalia, as well as a real hospital ward with resuscitation equipment.

The security forces also found a sledgehammer, the main symbol associated with Wagner PMC, decorated with the inscription: “In case of important negotiations.”

The security forces also found gold bars, fake documents and even wigs, which Prigozhin had allegedly used as disguises during trips abroad.

The seized cash and weapons, including a Glock pistol awarded by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, have already been returned to Prigozhin, Russian state propagandists claimed.
