Tuesday’s rewind: Va power stops Lake Norman Christian at Hoops-Mas event in Rock Hill

Virginia state champion John Marshall and legendary coach Ty White came to the Charlotte-area Tuesday and beat Lake Norman Christian 72-63.

The teams played at the Hoops-Mas holiday tournament in Rock Hill at Westminster Catawba Christian School.

Lake Norman Christian star Mikey Williams scored four of his 10 points after halftime. Trey Green (22 points) led Lake Norman Christian and all scorers.

Jason Nelson was MVP with 15 points for John Marshall. Teammate Dana Woodley had 17 points.

Tuesday’s #BIG5 Top Performers

Graham Calton, Charlotte Latin: senior had 19 points, 13 rebounds in a 73-64 win over Rabun Gap. Latin moved to 7-2.

Caleb Maul, Metrolina Christian: 20 points, on 9-of-11 shooting, plus five rebounds, four blocks, one steal and one assist in a 91-86 overtime win over Christ School. Christ School’s Donavan Fitzgerald finished with 35 points, seven reounds and six made 3-pointers. Christ School was 17-of-34 from 3 as a team.

Jarvis Moss, Cannon School: game-high 41 points in a 76-74 win over Gaston Christian. Moss, who didn’t score in the first quarter, made the game-winning free throws and finished with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. He made 5-of-13 3-point shots.

Logan Threatt, Concord Academy: team-high 23 points in a 61-60 upset over NCISAA state power Greensboro Day at the Phenom Hoops event.

Cade Tyson, Ben Burnham, Justin Taylor, Carmel Christian: Trio had 69 of Carmel’s 83 points in an 83-61 win over Bull City at the Phenom Hoops Holiday Classic in Rock Hill.
