Man dead in Portsmouth shopping center shooting

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died after being shot on Airline Boulevard Wednesday afternoon, Portsmouth Police said.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Airline Boulevard for a reported gunshot wound around 1:25 p.m. When they arrived, they found Andrese Jennings, 24, with life-threatening gunshot wound injuries, police said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Portsmouth Police’s Major Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest captured in surveillance footage. The person, police said, is a Black man last seen wearing a military uniform and goes by Malik. Police are also searching for a vehicle connected to the homicide — a white Jetta with Virginia license plate TMK 7068.
