“Reply 1988” follows a group of friends who all live in the same Seoul neighborhood in the year 1988.

Besides lead actor Hyeri, whose career in entertainment was already established due to her being a member of K-pop group Girl’s Day, “Reply 1988” boosted the popularity of many of its other stars, particularly Park and Ryu.

Lee, whose appearance in the K-drama led to several subsequent drama and film roles, captured his nostalgia for the show in his recent post's caption, writing, “88, you know how much I love and miss you, right? Ditto.”

“Reply 1988” first aired in November 2015 as the third and final installment of Shin’s popular “Reply” series, the first of which, “Reply 1997” (2012), propelled him to fame over 10 years ago. Shin has continued to see success after directing hits such as “Prison Playbook” (2017) and both seasons of “Hospital Playlist” (2020).
