Photos: Snow-capped mountains visible across San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI) — San Diego’s mountaintops are glistening white after a Winter Storm Warning was issued for mountain communities last week.

The latest winter storm dumped inches of snow in elevated areas across the region, prompting days of school closures in some county districts.

Though the sun has returned to most areas, temperatures have been chilly. Saturday night lows were projected to be in the 20s for some mountain areas, according to the National Weather Service.

With the wintry weather comes sights of palm trees with snowy mountain backdrops, something that’s not seen all the time in sunny San Diego.

From Balboa Park to the University of San Diego, local photographer Vishwas Lokesh captured several angles of snow-capped mountains across the region Saturday evening.

Here’s a look at what his camera snapped:

In the photo below, snowcapped Mount Laguna is seen from Shelter Island. The Balboa Park tower is also visible in the front.

A ‘fleeting moment’ captured: Sea lion dances with bait ball near La Jolla shores

In the photo below, Lokesh captured the Cuyamaca Mountain range with the clouds casting a shadow over it. He took the photo behind the Immaculata Catholic Church, located at the University of San Diego.

The image below shows another of angle of Mount Laguna, this time captured from Ocean Beach. Also visible is Junípero Serra Museum in Presidio Park.

In another capture, seen below, the snow-capped San Bernardino mountains can be seen in the far distance. Lokesh took the photo from Mount Soledad Memorial Park in La Jolla.
