PHOTOS: Snow squalls remnant of winter storm bury parts of southern Ontario
The snow may have moved out for the majority of southern Ontario, but gusty winds remain dominant and are fuelling heavy lake-effect snow along the province’s snowbelts.
The biting winds and subsequent squalls have prompted Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) to issue several snow squall warnings and special weather statements.
“Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” the organization said, adding “Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”
Some roads have even been closed, such as Highway 6 around Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Across the border in New York, folks in Buffalo have also been getting buried under snow squalls and lake-effect snow. The inclement weather even prompted the National Football League (NFL) to postpone its highly-anticipated playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
