PHOTOS: Wind damage made 3 local homes uninhabitable

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WJW) — Damage from last week’s heavy winds left three homes in the city uninhabitable, according to city Fire Chief Thomas Hummel Jr.

The Painesville City Fire Department was “inundated” with calls of fallen trees and property damage on Friday evening, when wind gusts raged across Northeast Ohio — some of which were forecasted to reach 60 mph at times, according to FOX 8 meteorologists.

Two homes on River’s Edge Lane and another on Westwood Drive were “severely damaged” by downed trees, according to firefighters. No one was injured, but all three were deemed uninhabitable.

The residents found shelter with relatives, according to firefighters.

Firefighters also secured utility connections for the damaged structures and called for help from the city Building Department.
