Amazing Geode Crystal Wedding Cake Looks a Bit Like the Eye of Sauron (In a Good Way!)

Sparkly geode DIYs are so popular right now that you may experience a temporary, dazzling-jewel blindness every time you refresh Pinterest.

But here to undermine all vainglorious attempts at DIY geode supremacy is Rachael Teufel, with her brilliant, three-tiered, positively prehistoric wedding-cake marvel. In the three days since she posted pictures of her cake on Facebook, Teufel has gained 25,000 followers and received 8,000 comments.

Teufel, who designed the entirely edible cake for the launch of First Look Events at Moss Denver, sells her sumptuous cakes from her company Intricate Icings Cake Designs, which she started in 2006.

According to her website, “Rachael grew up baking in the kitchen with her Hungarian grandmother, but she didn’t discover her passion for cake decorating until later in life while seeking a creative outlet from her day job [as a physical therapist].”

So how did she make it? According to Teufel’s Facebook account, “The geode is made from rock candy that I then crafted with modeling chocolate, hand painting, and gold leaf.”

Want to get your hands on this gem? Well, you’ll have to fork it over. According to Teufel’s site, prices start at $2,000.

For anyone not quite ready to sell their car for a rock made out of sugar, Teufel also offers cake-decorating classes through Craftsy.
