At physical therapy clinics, happiness is patient and employee safety
During good times, and challenging ones, Rachel Batzold says there is one word you will always hear from her and that word is “happy,” which refers to a commitment to keeping patients and employees happy, a commitment made by Team Rehabilitation, where Batzold is the human resources director.
“Keeping our patients happy, by showing that we care and will go the extra mile to keep them healthy is always our goal,” Batzold said.

Team Rehabilitation is a group of outpatient physical therapy clinics headquartered in Clinton Township. It earned the No. 5 spot among large companies in the 2021 Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces competition. It has been a Top Workplace for 13th consecutive years.
“Receiving top workplaces awards is incredibly exciting and reinforces that we are doing something right and that our employees are happy, which in turn creates happy patients,” Batzold said.
She explains that talking about making patients and employees happy is the easy part, but achieving the goal during these times requires an unwavering commitment to safety.
“Patient and employee safety has been our No. 1 priority in succeeding during the pandemic and beyond,” said Batzold, whose company operates clinics in Michigan and four other states (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Georgia). “We have not lowered any of our safety standards within the clinics from mask mandates, screening patients, and staying committed to cleanliness.”
Another key component of Team Rehabilitation’s happiness recipe described by Batzold is teamwork.
“Our team — both clinical and administrative staff — has been working so hard to keep Team Rehab successful throughout the most challenging times we’ll likely ever face,” Batzold said. “And we want our community to know that we are all here to create an amazing experience for you on whatever journey it is that brings you to one of our clinics.”
