Physicians Formula and Casey Holmes’s Butter Makeup Collaboration Sells Out in Minutes [Update]

UPDATE (January 17, 2019): If you didn't snag the Physicians Formula Butter Collection Palette x Casey Holmes in literally the first few minutes after it launched on the brand's website, you're not alone. The makeup company's very first collaboration left lots of people hanging when the $20 set sold out almost instantly. Nearly two weeks later, there's good news and bad news — and the good news is so good that it pretty much makes up for the bad news.

First, the bad news: the Casey Holmes collab is not yet back in stock on physiciansformula.com. But the really, really good news is that it has arrived, as promised, on Ulta's website, where those who were lucky enough to already get one have been leaving mostly five-star reviews.

"The value here is incredible," says one reviewer, referring to how the set is a $70 vaue. "I love how these shadows perform, and I've used it for a very everyday look as well as a very dramatic smoky eye look." Another shopper says she would have happily paid $20 for the highlighter alone: "The highlighter. You guys. She did it. Casey Holmes and Physicians Formula have given us the highlight dreams are made of."

If the Butter Collection Palette's first day was any indication, it's bound to go quickly on Ulta, too. But if you miss your chance again, Physicians Formula says it's coming back to its own site soon, too.

Physicians Formula's roots stretch all the way back to 1937, but it took the brand over 80 years to do its very first collaboration. And from the looks of it, it won't be its last. Casey Holmes was tapped to help expand the beloved Butter makeup line with the Butter Collection Palette, and it appears the beauty vlogger was a great choice. Thanks in part to Holmes having nearly two million YouTube subscribers and another million followers on Instagram, the Butter Collection Palette sold out within minutes of its Friday launch.

"This palette contains a couple of my favorite Butter products and some that we created specifically for my fans," reads a quote from Holmes on physiciansformula.com, where the palette's page currently says it's out of stock. "I am so proud of this collection — it truly is the perfect go-to, all-in-one palette." But to call it just a palette truly sells this $20 set short.

Built right into the box are pans of Butter Bronzer in Deep Bronzer and Butter Blush in Copper Cabana, as well as new limited-edition shades: Butter Eyeshadow in Do Not Disturb, No Filter, Tropic Like It’s Hot, and Palms Palms, and Butter Highlighter in Just Beachy. But it also comes with two removable products: a limited-edition Butter Lip Cream shade called Pop the Bubbly, and Butter Paradise Eau de Toilette, which bottles the scent of the smooth powders in the Butter line.

Even Physicians Formula seems to be taken aback by the huge and immediate demand for the Butter Palette x Casey Holmes, but an Instagram caption promises it will not only be restocked on the brand's site but also brought to Ulta's site, too. "WOW! We’re so thrilled that you’re excited about this collab, beauties," it reads. "We are working to add more stock to our site and the palette will be available on Ulta.com soon. Thanks for all for the support. We hope you love the palette!"
