Pia Wurtzbach is NCCA's ambassador of arts

25 Jan – Pia Wurtzbach is one of the celebrities that has been named arts ambassador by the The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

As reported on Rappler, the actress, who won Miss Universe in 2015, joined singer KZ Tandingan and actor Ian Veneracion as the three representatives of NCCA in time for the celebration of "Ani ng Sining: Philippine Arts Festival".

Speaking about her role as an ambassador, Wurtzbach stated that arts is as important as history when it comes to knowing more about a country.

"[Looking at a country's arts and history,] and there you will see who they are. Our identity is there as seen in art. And I know times have changed. It's the age of millennials, but I hope that we don't forget to support our local artists and to support cultural arts in the Philippines," she said.

Although named art ambassador, Wurtzbach believes that everybody is an art ambassador in their own right.

"Let's remember, that in some way, we are all wearing a sash that says "Philippines"," she added.
