PIAA: See which Pocono boys basketball player earned a spot on the Class 6A All-State team

This one doesn't come as much of a surprise.

The Pennsylvania Sportswriters’ All-State Boys Basketball Team announced its final boys basketball All-State rosters Sunday morning. Pocono Mountain West superstar senior Christian Fermin claimed a spot on the All-State first team.

The 6-foot-10 power forward staked his claim as not only a top player in Pennsylvania, but a top-100 talent nationwide as just a junior. Fermin came into the season already committed to play NCAA Division I men's basketball at Virginia Commonwealth University.

While West ultimately come up short of a District 11 championship, Fermin was nothing but excellent in his last dance. He scored a school-record 43 points — on 21-of-25 shooting — against Pocono Mountain East in January on his way to eclipsing the 1,000-point career mark against Parkland in March.

When he wasn't slamming ferocious dunks or draining 3-pointers at a 60% clip, Fermin took a step forward offensively this season with his playmaking skills. Opposing defenses had no choice but to double or triple team Fermin, but the big man showed he could consistently find teammates Justin love, JuJu Pagan and Malakai Savage.

Fermin set another record with his fifth career triple-double, and the Panther great also leads the school all-time in rebounds (753), blocks (283), double-doubles (40), and points per game (16.5).

Fermin led the area's Pocono Record All-Stars as our boys basketball Player of the Year.
