Jason “Floyd” Coleman, the grandson to the late American pianist Floyd Cramer, is bringing his “Unchained Melodies” show to the Victor Valley College Performing Arts Center.

Many say Cramer’s musical legacy and his distinctive “slip note” piano style is safely protected by his grandson, who inherited his talent, which will be showcased in Coleman’s show this month.

Coleman’s show will feature the music of the ‘60s and ‘70s, spanning the hits of Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline, The Carpenters, Righteous Brothers and more.

His performance will combine songs, stories, and multimedia to take the audience on a piano journey down memory lane, according to organizers.

Floyd Cramer

Exemplified by his 1960 smash hit, “Last Date,” Cramer‘s unique touch at the piano was an essential part of the “Nashville Sound” during the 1950s and ’60s.

In 1960, Cramer’s piano instrumental solo, "Last Date" shot up to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 pop music chart and sold over one million copies.

Cramer was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Coleman’s concert is part of the Live On Stage, Inc. and the Victor Valley Community Concert Association’s 2022 - 2023 Newton T. Bass Family Concert Series, sponsored by The Apple Valley Foundation.
