The Earl Scruggs Center's eighth annual Pickin’ on the Square Series will return this summer.

The community-wide bluegrass jam session will be held on the historic court square in uptown Shelby.

The 2022 Pickin’ on the Square events are set for Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 11, July 8, and Aug. 13. Sponsored by the Donald and Carla Beam Family Foundation, Pickin’ on the Square events are free to the community.

Pickers of all playing levels are encouraged to bring their instruments and participate in an informal jam.

Music lovers, families and individuals are invited to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the sites and sounds of the historic Cleveland County court square.

The Earl Scruggs Center Gift Shop will be open during the event for guests to purchase refreshments and souvenirs.

In case of inclement weather, Pickin’ on the Square will move inside the Earl Scruggs Center to the Great Hall.

The Earl Scruggs Center's regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The center is free to Cleveland County residents on Wednesdays.
