Picks for All-Region, All-District and Players of the Year for Louisville-area baseball

High school baseball coaches from the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Regions have selected top players from the 2022 season in their respective districts and regions.

Fern Creek’s Ashton Prechtel has been named Sixth Region Player of the Year. The junior helped the Tigers go 27-7 and reach the semifinals of the regional tournament. He batted .510 with two home runs, 11 doubles, 32 RBIs and 29 runs scored. On the mound, he was 4-3 with a 2.74 ERA and struck out 54 batters in 53 2/3 innings.

St. Xavier’s Jake Bennett was named Seventh Region Player of the Year. The senior catcher helped the No. 3-ranked Tigers (30-10) win the regional title. He’s batting .427 with 13 home runs and 60 RBIs. He has signed with San Jacinto College in Texas.

North Oldham’s Chase Edmonds was named Eighth Region Player of the Year. The senior catcher helped the Mustangs go 28-8 and reach the regional final. He batted .462 with 12 doubles, six triples and 42 RBIs. He has signed with Berry College in Georgia.
