The lingerie event of the year took place at the Grand Palais in Paris, Wednesday, November 30. Fifty of the world's most beautiful women jetted into the French capital to present the latest creations from the Victoria's Secret brand amid a spectacular pink and purple-toned decor. But the show was by no means confined to the catwalk, as the brand's models -- known as the "Angels" -- flooded social networks with photos and videos of all kinds.

From model castings to the after-show party, fittings and backstage on the big night, social media has been buzzing with photos from the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show over the last few weeks. In fact, fans of the show's star models and the brand itself were able to follow the event ahead of its broadcast, December 5, on CBS.

An audience of millions, on Instagram

The Victoria's Secret Angels are masters in the art of social networking. The models total tens of millions of followers alone, without counting those who also follow the brand, which teased the upcoming show right from the initial castings.

Every aspect of the event provided matter for social sharing. There were videos of castings, and videos showing models shrieking with joy or bursting into tears on learning they'd been picked to travel to Paris. The brand also uploaded a video showing Jasmine Tookes finding out she would be modeling the Bright Night Fantasy Bra, the ultimate honor for a Victoria's Secret Angel.

Alessandra Ambrosio (7.3 million followers), Adriana Lima (8.8 million), Kendall Jenner (69.3 million), Jasmine Tookes (1.4 million), Gigi Hadid (25.9 million), Bella Hadid (7.9 million) and Izabel Goulart (3.2 million) spent days posting photo after photo, creating an online community hanging on the every word of the stars of the show.

The high point for followers came in the moments before the spectacular event kicked off, with backstage shots showing the final preparations before the artists, including Lady Gaga, arrived. As the models walked, guests then took over the role of social media sharing, revealing the brand's new creations and the 2016 runway.
