Picturesque sunset views help Lake Norman make top 10 in this latest national ranking
Lake Norman is one of the top 10 most picturesque landscapes in America, according to a recent national ranking by Storyboards Inc.
Experts at Storyboards who create photo tiles wall art ranked locales by analyzing Instagram hashtags data, according to a company news release.
Lake Norman finished No. 7 with 640,978 hashtags.
In its news release, Storyboards said:
“Lake Norman is the largest man-made lake in North Carolina, and the lake has plenty of spots for locals, or even visitors, to dock their boats and view the sunset on an evening.”
Lake Tahoe on the California-Nevada border topped the list with more than 2.9 million hashtags, followed by Lake Michigan, with roughly 2.7 million; Clearwater Beach, Florida, with more than 1.2 million; Lake Superior on the U.S.-Canada border, at just over 1.1 million; Lake Ontario, 1,007,124; and Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, 969,640.
We beat Lake Huron, which straddles Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario, and finished eighth with 560,434 hashtags; Lake Powell, along the Colorado River in Utah and Arizona, No. 9 with 456,329; and the Mojave Desert in California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, 10th place, 429,066.
