Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center has been named a 2024 High Performing hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care rankings, according to a news release.

The publication evaluated 680 hospitals' labor and delivery care units, focusing on uncomplicated pregnancies. Instead of a traditional ranking system, the hospitals in each state were designated as “high performing” and “not high performing.”

Fewer than half – 46% – of all hospitals that offer maternity care and participated in the survey received a high performing designation, according to the news release.

“Piedmont Athens is proud to receive this recognition from U.S. News & World Report,” said Piedmont Athens Regional CEO Michael Burnett. “This designation reflects our team’s relentless commitment to excellent patient care, offering all patients access to safe, individualized maternity care.”

Two other Georgia hospitals have also been ranked as "high performing": Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Johns Creek and Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta.
