When will Piedmont Brewery reopen in Macon? Here are the renovation details

Frequent visitors of Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen expressed dismay at the brewpub’s announcement that it would be closed for renovations.

After six years of being in business, Brian Whitley, one of the owners, said it was time for an update.

“It’ll just feel a little fresher and cleaner. It’s okay to do that after six years, kind of freshen up a little bit, but still keep the character. I mean, nothing’s gonna change as far as who we are,” he said.

They are hoping to open Thursday evening for dinner, but Whitley said that is very tentative. At the very least, they hope to return to regular business hours Friday, he said.

The renovations include replacing the floor in the kitchen and bathrooms, changing some light fixtures, repositioning some of the artwork and painting, especially around the bar area.

“Over by the bar area, we’ve painted it really dark back there in the back to kind of give it a different vibe, kind of make it feel separate from the dining room,” he said. “If you’ve been there several times, you’ll probably notice a difference, but if you’ve only been there a handful of times, you might not necessarily notice. It might just look cleaner.”

People commented on the restaurant’s Facebook posts expressing their dismay about the closure and excitement for the renovations.

“I’m excited to see what y’all are doing, but I’m secretly missing the special of the day!” wrote Heather Daniel Cummings.

Some people even joked about knocking down walls with a sledgehammer in exchange for beer and threatening to speak to management.

“I’mma need yall to tighten up. I didn’t get my Wing Wednesday pic this week and I’m losing it over here. You know what, let me speak to management,” wrote Jason Brown, after which a conversation in GIFs followed.

Although the dining room is closed for customers, the brewery is operating like normal, Whitley said.

“We’re really not missing any beats from the brewery side. We don’t like the empty dining room either. We miss our friends,” he said.
