Rockland County man dies in overnight crash on Palisades Parkway in Alpine

A Piermont, New York, man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, police said.

Officers responding to the scene in the parkway's northbound lanes at 2:37 a.m. found a black 2018 Lincoln Navigator overturned in the center median of the highway, just north of the Alpine Lookout, Parkway Police Lt. Raymond Walter said.

The driver was found deceased inside the vehicle, Walter said. He said the identity of the 49-year-old victim was withheld pending notification of relatives.

An accident reconstruction was done by the Parkway Police Detective Bureau with the assistance of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The crash is still under investigation, Walter said.

The crash occurred a little more than 24 hours after a horrific crash farther south on the parkway in Englewood Cliffs that left four people dead. That crash is also under investigation, police said.
