Pierre cruises to Class A girls tennis state championship

Pierre cruised to a state team championship at the second day of the Class A girls tennis meet in Rapid City on Tuesday. The Governors scored 506 team points, with St. Thomas More and Sioux Falls Christian both finishing more than 100 points behind Pierre at No. 2 and No. 3 in the standings.

The Governors competed in four of six singles flights finals and two of three doubles flights finals. Kara Weiss won in flight two for the Governors and teammate Jocelyn Corrales won in flight four singles. In doubles, Pierre's team of Sydney Tedrow and Weiss won the flight one championship and Corrales and Caitlin Ott won in flight three.

St. Thomas More's Athena Franciliso won the flight one singles championship.
