Pierre quarterback Lincoln Kienholz changes college choice to Ohio State from Washington

Dec. 14—PIERRE, S.D. — South Dakota's all-time leading passer announced a change of plans Wednesday.

After committing to play football at the University of Washington in June, Lincoln Kienholz decommitted from the Huskies and announced his commitment to Ohio State on Wednesday.

Kienholz is the top-ranked player in South Dakota for the class of 2023, according to 247 sports, and is the No. 13-ranked quarterback in the country.

He finished his prep career with 9,100 passing yards and 104 touchdowns through the air — both of which rank first in South Dakota history — while adding 3,502 yards and 44 scores with his legs. He was a four-time state champion in Class 11AA with the Governors and a three-time Joe Robbie MVP award winner. Kienholz was an all-state performer in baseball and basketball.

The four-star Pierre product joins the Buckeyes' No. 5-ranked recruiting class for 2023, and sits as the 12th-highest ranked quarterback recruit, according to 247 sports, in Ohio State history — one spot behind the Buckeyes' all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns, J.T. Barrett, and one spot ahead of current Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and former No. 1-overall pick Joe Burrow.
