Controversial TV host Piers Morgan was vaccinated against coronavirus on Saturday and shared a video on Twitter of his “amazingly efficient” experience.

The presenter was given the jab at the Violet Melchett Centre in Chelsea, southwest London, and even found time to joke it was not as painful as working alongside his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid.

Speaking with a doctor called Tim in the video, he said: “Here I am, about to have my AstraZeneca jab, I’m that old.

“I have to say it’s been an amazingly efficient operation ... we were told exactly where to go, you treated me like the idiot I am, nothing was left to chance.”

The doctor told him they would administer around 560 jabs during a half-day shift, working alongside as many as 40 volunteers, before injecting Morgan with his first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

As he was jabbed in his right arm, he commented: “Very painless, there it goes. That’s it, barely felt a thing - not even as painful as working with Susanna Reid.”

Sharing the video on social media, Morgan tweeted: “JABBED! Thanks to everyone at the Violet Melchett Centre in Chelsea for an incredibly quick, efficient service. In and out in 9 minutes!

“Had the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. Here’s the historic moment...”.

The UK’s vaccine rollout has seen more than 21 million people already having received their first jab, while one million have had their second Covid vaccine dose.
