Pigeons wearing tiny cowboy hats are flying around Las Vegas and people have questions
LAS VEGAS – Pigeons come in many shapes and sizes.
In Las Vegas, some wear cowboy hats.
A viral Facebook video from a Las Vegas resident named Bobby Lee showing pigeons with tiny cowboy hats apparently glued to their heads has led a local pigeon rescue group to launch an operation unlike any other.
“We got a couple good leads,” said Mariah Hillman, co-founder of Lofty Hopes, on Tuesday. “We found Cluck Norris. We’ve been chasing him all day.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Hillman and her small crew were putting up a trap to capture Cluck Norris the cowboy pigeon about a half-mile from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas campus.
“It looks like glue,” Hillman said after her daughter got close enough to see the hat atop Cluck’s head. “There are feathers stuck to the hat.”
After Cluck is captured, Hillman will try to remove the hat.
“Hopefully it’s not impeding his vision,” she said. “It’s a living being. Every living being has a right to his own life.”
The viral video showing Cluck and a second cowboy pigeon has led to some entertaining social media commentary.
