Pileup in Rock County closes all lanes of Interstate 90
All lanes of Interstate 39/90 in Rock County were closed Friday afternoon between Janesville and Beloit due a pileup, according to images from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Photos from the pileup show a semitrailer on fire and other vehicles damaged.
Beloit Memorial Hospital told WKOW-TV in Madison that they received 27 patients from the crash with injuries that included head, neck and shoulder pain.
According to an alert from the Wisconsin State Patrol, the incident occurred Friday at 12:30 p.m. amid snow, ice and whiteout conditions. Troopers arrived to find the interstate blocked in both directions.
Northbound and southbound lanes of I-90 were closed for roughly 7½ hours, before the DOT reopened southbound lanes shortly after 8 p.m. At 9:10 p.m., the DOT announced that all lanes of traffic were open.
