Pilot and passenger survive plane crash in Danbury

DANBURY, Connecticut - A pilot and passenger were able to walk away from a single-engine plane crash near the Danbury Municipal Airport on Monday evening.

The plane came down around 6 p.m. in the rear of 159 Southern Boulevard, crushing a backyard shed.

The single engine aircraft clipped the roof of one house and came down on a shed between that house and a neighbor's.

The pilot and passenger were taken to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries.

Danbury police closed off Southern Boulevard between Jefferson and Washington avenues while Danbury firefighters worked at the scene, which is about two miles east of Danbury Airport.

It is unknown if the plane was taking off from, or landing at, the airport.
